Included on the album was the single “Adore,” featuring Ariana Grande. The following year he featured on Ludacris’ single “Party Girls.” In 2017 Cashmere Cat delivered his debut full-length album, Wild Love. He also released his own productions, including the Mirror Maru EP (released on Pelican Fly), and hooked up with Glasgow’s LuckyMe label, the outlet for his 2013 EP, Wedding Bells. He gained much more notice in 20, when he made remixes and edits of tracks by the likes of Lana Del Rey, Jeremih, 2 Chainz, and Miguel. He branched into production and remix work among his most notable early output was Wildchild’s (of the Lootpack) “Stuck in Norway,” and Final remixes of tracks by Classixx and Jaga Jazzist. From 2006 through 2009, under the alias Final, he represented his country at the DMC World DJ Championship. Magnus August Hiberg, known as Cashmere Cat, is a downtempo/abstract electronic music producer and turntablist from Halden, Norway. Don’t miss “Victoria’s Veil,” the only song without a featured artist, for an unfiltered look at his magic. But make no mistake, Cashmere Cat is the star here. He cut his teeth producing for Benny Blanco (Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber) and Kanye West, so it’s no surprise that his debut album features a slew of A-list talent, including The Weeknd, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, M, and many others. The Oslo native’s eccentric, flamboyant production makes pop songs feel like modern art, twisting beats and melodies into loopy abstractions. If contemporary pop is a blend of moody R&B vocals and playful DJ tricks, Cashmere Cat is the wizard behind the curtain.
